TECHMETA Engineering, France, Electron Beam Welding specialist, has developed a new process to realize Supra Conductive Radio Frequency (SCRF) cavities. In this process, a specially designed small diameter bending system(TechBend Patented)permits the introduction of the electron beam inside the cavity to weld the cavity from inside. The automatic beam centering system gives reproductible results of the weld seam. A first TESLA cavity of KEK design (Japanese laboratory of Physics) has been welded in one vacuum pass with a very smooth inside surface aspect. The physical characteristics at cryotemperature of 2 degrees Kelvin: Quality factor of1.57 1010and Quenchfield of 37.3MV/m. Well above the ILC specifications (International Linear Collider).
